I just cant find one within my budget. Which is a bummer, still on the look out though. And on that note, and other ideas for tailgates that could be used but also gotten for cheap? All I really care about is that they are semi-interesting.

Have you been to a junkyard yet?

I’ve done the online part search. The closest one is in like Georgia or something, and if I do that I get slammed with shipping fees.
I found one for $120 in north Ohio and I just needed to wait a day to get paid and it was sold a few hours later.

There’s nothing like slamming your ass on Hitler’s legacy.

But I mean have you been to an actual Junkyard? Like one of the few Parts Galores and such around here? It’s worth a look at least. I can also put a word out on some local car pages for one if you’d like.

Most of the local junkyards have there stuff listed on here http://www.car-part.com/ . Thats where I was looking. But no, I havent gone and actually looked at a junkyard.

Plymouth Arrow had all sorts of cool stripe packages so that might be one option.

I’d post on the local CL and see if anyone has an old rusty truck or know where one is.

Just grab a Hilux tailgate and be done.

I’ll put a word out for you

I do like the ones with the raised lettering. But those are even harder to find.

Oh man that is cool. I need to make one!

How about a 90s Chevy tailgate with the chrome trim?
![]() 07/11/2015 at 17:55 |

I’ve seen a few of these as options and I’m looking more for one with raised lettering. And even then, people ask surprising money for even these.
That being said, of the “newer” options I’d put this second only to the Comanche tailgate.

Yeah, I was going to suggest one like my old ‘81 had, but those are likely expensive if not completely rotten.

What about a 1990-1992 Ranger tailgate?
Its basically the Fomoco version of the Caddy Tailgate (visually at least)

What is your zip code?
Try also row52.com the pick-n-pull uses that, although not detailed.

I would totally do one of those. But they’re just as hard to find...

I’ll have to look at that one.

What about an old Toyota Tacoma tailgate?
![]() 07/11/2015 at 20:02 |

just trying to broaden your options, ebay/craigslist is the way to go.
side note, i have seen too many of the 70’s and 80’s era small pickups turned into pickup bed trailers, that need to stop.

I only said it because I heard tailgate and remembered buying one of these for my truck last year, if I would have known sooner I could have given you my old one before it got scrapped

Meh, the people trying to find them most likely have trucks and need tailgates. Since it’s such a rare part, i’d just let them have those and look for another more common kind.

I’m not looking for one in good shape. I’m looking more for rusty, damaged, or warped for that reason. Nice ones to put back on a truck are out of my budget anyways.

Not sure if these letters are raised but an 80’s S-10 might be findable.
